How To Use Peppermint Oil For Beauty, Health, and Household Needs

How to use peppermint oil to cleanse skin and get rid of dandruff. How to use peppermint oil to get rid of pests, and aphids on plants

Peppermint oil which is an essential oil can be used for many different things from beauty products to health uses to household uses. A bottle of essential oil will last for a long time as you only need a couple of drops of it for practically everything you use it for.

Eliminating Dandruff

You will need to measure out your shampoo for this. Take 2 oz of any shampoo and add in 1 drop of peppermint oil to the 2 oz stir, and then wash your hair with the solution. Be sure not to use more than one drop. Peppermint oil is very strong it can burn if you use too much.

Facial Scrub

Mix ¼ cup of oatmeal with enough water to make a like a paste. Add 1 drop (again no more than one drop) of peppermint oil to the mixture and spread on face. Wash your face with the mixture and then wash off with cold water. Be careful to avoid the eye area. The mint will help to remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the skin. Do not scrub the mixture in just wash. If your skin feels too sensitive wash it off right away.

Tension Headaches

It is said that some people place peppermint oil on their forehead to relieve tension. Since peppermint oil can be quite strong I don’t think I would put it on full strength. It might be better to mix it with a little lotion and place it on the areas instead. Remember never use more than one drop.

Using as a Vapor to Clear Sinuses

Add 3 drops to 6 oz of hot water. Place in a large bowl and place a towel behind your head and breath in the vapors. Do this for a few minutes up to 3 times per day.

Pest Repellent

Mice, rats, cockroaches and ants all hate the smell of peppermint oil. Placing cotton balls that have been dipped in peppermint oil around the home will deter these pests from coming in to your home.

Getting Rid of Aphids on Indoor and Outdoor Plants

In a spray bottle mix 8 oz of water with 8 drops of peppermint oil and spray it on the leaves of the plants.

Getting Ticks off of a Pet

Saturate a cotton ball with peppermint oil and then place it on the tick, it should cause the tick to pull it’s head out of the pet and then you can pull it off without worrying about leaving the head inside the body.

Peppermint Tea for Stomach Ailments

This is not peppermint oil but I thought I would throw it in here. If you are a bit irregular try drinking some mint tea.
